اهمیت نشانه گذاری در کسب نمره بالای رایتینگ
نشانه گذاری (Punctuation) یا به عبارت رایج‌تر همان کاماگذاری از مهمترین ارکان بخش رایتینگ محسوب می شود. با این وجود بسیاری اهمیت آن را در رایتینگشان دست کم می‌گیرند. به بیانی دیگر اکثر افراد هنگام نوشتن بیشتر به انتخاب واژگانشان فکر می کنند تا بخش های دیگر!! این البته یک اشتباه محاسباتی بزرگ است. خوب نوشتن در انگلیسی خیلی فراتر از لغات و گرامر است. کاما گذاری صحیح مثل تلفظ درست در اسپیکینگ (intonation) در واقع به فهم بهتر متن، گویاتر شدن پیام، و نهایتا کسب نمره مورد نظرتان در رایتینگ منتهی خواهد شد.
برای درک بهتر اهمیت موضوع به متن زیر که از یک رایتینگ تسک 2 گرفته شده توجه کنید:
In car races for example if the racing car brakes or driving wheels become problematic and uncontrollable this car may dash into spectators and hurt them finally hazardous sports like boxing wrestling or car racing may provoke individuals into illegal betting which might trigger social problems involved in stealing or fighting.
آیا شما هم در دنبال کردن این متن مشکل داشتید؟ البته نویسنده این متن دایره ی لغوی و گرامری خوبی را به نمایش گذاشته، اما عدم رعایت قواعد کاماگذاری در درک مطلب اخلال ایجاد کرده است. حالا سعی کنید ابتدا خودتان با کاماگذاری متن بالا را اصلاح کنید و سپس کارتان را با نمونه اصلاح شده زیر مقایسه کنید:
In car races, for example, if the racing car brakes or driving wheels become problematic and uncontrollable, this car may dash into spectators and hurt them. Finally, hazardous sports like boxing, wrestling, or car racing may provoke individuals into illegal betting, which might trigger social problems involved in stealing or fighting.
همانطور ملاحظه نمودید، در پاراگراف اول ابتدایی ترین قواعد کاماگذاری نیز رعایت نشده بود: مثل عدم شروع جمله جدید با حروف بزرگ و عدم نقطه گذاری برای بستن جملات_ به احتمال زیاد البته شما چنین اشتباهات فاحشی را هیچ وقت نخواهید داشت اما اشکالات ریزتر و پرتکرارتر ما را بر آن داشت تا مقاله حاضر را تقدیم حضورتان کنیم:
حروف بزرگ
- در شروع جملات و در اسم های شناخته شده، حرف اول باید همیشه با حروف بزرگ نوشته شود
Example: My professor is from the World-famous university of Alberta.
کاما
- قبل و بعد از از عبارات موصولی نامعین (non-defining relative clause)
Example: The Ngorogoro Crater, which is in Kenya, is one of the most-visited game reserves in Africa
- هنگام ذکر گروهی از مثال ها
Example: More specifically, boxing, skiing, or mountaineering could give rise to …
- بعد از بند وابسته (subordinate clause)
Example: Although I studied hard for the test, I couldn’t pass the exam.
- بین صفات وقتی بیشتر از یک صفت قبل از یک اسم بکار می بریم (اگر صفات کوتاه و پرتکرار باشند کاما نیاز ندارد)
Example: a simple, long term solution
A little old man
- قبل از ربط دهنده های FAN BOYS (and, but, for, or, nor, so, yet) بین دو عبارت مستقل
Example: Breakers of laws should not be spared of punishment, but I believe young offenders should be dealt with differently from adults.
- بعد از رابط های معرف (قید های ربط دهنده در آغاز و بین جمله، دیسکورس مارکرها و عبارات وابسته)
Examples: However, a range of available options can be taken to tackle the problem.
Folk music, however, is more popular among the older generation.
In my opinion, there are several benefits of being vegetarian.
This is especially true in Africa, where people are very poor.
- در جملات شرطی اگر “if clause” اول بیاید
Example: If leaders are young, they might find it hard to influence other employees.
- هنگامی که یک عبارت نیاز به اطلاعات تکمیلی داشته باشد (برای تفکیک اطلاعات اصلی از فرعی)
Example: The book, written by a German author, describes the atmosphere of the city very well.
- در اعداد برای تفکیک صدگان (دقت شود که از نقطه برای نمایش قسمت اعشاری استفاده می کنیم)
Example: 1,663,552.36
نقطه- کاما یا semi-colon (;)
- هنگام اتصال دو عبارت مستقل با ایده کلی یکسان از نقطه-کاما استفاده می کنیم. در این حالت اتصال و چسبندگی دو جمله بیشتر از حالت نقطه گذاری بین دو جمله خواهد بود.
Example: People in many big cities are suffering respiratory diseases; more lands are being shrunk due to the rise of the sea.
دو نقطه یا colon (:)
به طور معمول از دو نقطه برای معرفی لیستی از موارد استفاده می شود. همچنان می توانیم برای جداسازی دو عبارت مستقل از آن استفاده کنیم ( درحالی که عبارت دوم به توضیحی از عبارت اول می پردازد) یا برای تاکید بیشتر
Examples: The second floor of the house is divided into two sections: the living room, and the bathroom.
Nowadays, people don’t even spend time with their families: many just amuse themselves with their smart phones without even noticing the time they spend on digital devices.
The CEO’s of large corporations care about one thing, and one thing only: money.
پرانتز یا brackets ()
- از پرانتر برای ارائه اطلاعات اضافی غیر ضروری استفاده می کنیم بطوریکه اگر پرانتر و اطلاعات آن حذف گردد در انتقال مفهوم جمله خللی ایجاد نمی شود.
Example: In Tehran (and probably other provinces of Iran), air pollution is getting worst every day.
به خاطر داشته باشید که نشانه گذاری های دیگری علاوه بر موارد ذکر شده در بالا وجود دارند مانند نشانه نقل قول (وقتی می‌خواهیم جمله را از کسی نقل قول کنیم)، علامت تعجب! (برای بیان احساساتی مثل خوشحالی) و علامت سوال؟ (وقتی طرح سوال می‌کنیم). اگرچه این موارد بسیار به ندرت در امتحان آیلتس مورد استفاده قرار می گیرند ولی بهتر است با استفاده آن ها نیز آشنایی کافی داشته باشیم تا در هنگام لزوم و همچنین در مراودات روزمره و کاری خود بتوانیم بطور صحیح از همه آن‌ها استفاده کنیم.
